A 16 3/8 inch Viola, based on a design by Clifford Hoing, published in 1972.
Constructed from especially good timber - the beautifully flamed maple of the back and neck was felled in 2003 and the spruce for the top in 1994. The sound is very big and cello-like.
SOLD, and beginning a professional career.
'Caroline Campbell's first viola is a real success story. It has a rich malleable tone, good responsiveness and plays very evenly in all registers'. Viola Tutor, Royal Scottish Conservatoire, Glasgow
'Caroline's viola has produced a warm sonorous tone right from the start. The tone is beautifully even across all four strings and the instrument is light and easy to play. In an orchestral setting this violas sound is crystal clear and as a solo instrument it projects very well'. Viola Tutor, Fife
